The Government of South Sudan has rejected the latest AU plan to solve the oil row with the Sudan considering the agreement beyond its financial possibilities.

Reuters said the AU proposed that South gave Sudan between 2.6 billion and 5.4 billion US dollars in cash, plus transit fees worth up to 1.1 billion dollars until the end of 2014.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit told the heads of State gathered in Addis Ababa that his government did not sign the agreement presented by the AU Panel on Friday because the transitional financial provisions were not in line with what was anticipated.

He considered the agreement vague on several issues.

Mr Kiir said it would tie the Republic of South Sudan to provide urgent cash and oil to the Sudan without first addressing the issues that led to the breakdown in negotiations.

He added South Sudan is ready to contribute to the financial gap being experienced by the Government of Sudan within some limits.

The president asked also for a guarantee of the swift and peaceful resolutions to the Abyei and borders issues.
