SOUTH SUDAN RED CROSS TO RECRUIT OVER 100 NEW MEMBERS

The Red Cross plans to recruit over 100 new members to boost its activities and answer to the crescent wave of violence in the country.

South Sudan Red Cross Yei Field staff Allahfi Hillary Mikaya told Radio Easter that the humanitarian organization has decided to recruit an extra 100 volunteers after a meeting with executive and board members in Juba.

The move aims at extending the activities of the Red Cross to the branches in the ten states.

Mr Allafhi said the increase of conflicts in South Sudan places extra demands on Red Cross volunteers, especially in Abyei and Jonglei.

Mr Allafhi appealed to the public to register as members of the South Sudan Red Cross Society in order to help those hit by disaster as the role of the Voluntary Society stipulates.
