The chairperson of National Land Commission has warned that land contracts with individual without proper consultation were very dangerous and illegal.
Robert Lado Bima told journalists that individuals signed a number of contracts on behalf of the communities in South Sudan. He said that no chief or individual is allowed to dispose of land to investors without consulting the community.
He warned that not everyone talking of investments in South Sudan is doing it with a good heart.
Mr Lado added that contracts signed between individuals and investors have been cancelled by the national government.
He said land grabbing is rampant and people started taking parts of cemeteries in Juba.
Mr Lado added that it is a criminal act to dig out human remains in the cemetery without legal procedures because the law protects all the living and the dead.
The Land Commissioner explained that there are legally accepted ways of turning a cemetery into residential area.
