At least, 47 people have been killed and scores seriously injured in a surprise attack in Duk County of Jonglei State by suspected Murle youths.
Among the victims were women, children and the elderly persons.Philip Thon Leek, an MP from Duk County, Jonglei State said Duk Padiet Payam was attack at 5:00 PM and the attackers were positively identified as Murle armed youth because some of them were killed by the Duk youth.
He said some of the attackers were in military uniform.
Mr Thon added that Duk Padiet is expecting another attack this evening because the attackers did not find cattle.
He said the group came to destroy the people of Duk because they were wrongly accused of being involved in Lou Nure youth raids against the Murle.
Mr Thon appealed for humanitarian aid and called on the national and state governments to immediately intervene to protect civilians.
