Don Bosco Intermediate Tournament kicked off yesterday in Tonj, Warrap state, with two football matches and some music.

The tournament opened at 4:00 PM with the hot performances of four popular artists from Tonj, Radio Don Bosco reported.

Brother Tony Odior, one of the organizers, said that the matches went well although there was poor time management.

He added that Young Stars FC won 1-0 against Soldiers of Mary Society FC and Falcon FC lost 5-0 to Lion Stars.

Br. Odior encouraged the losers of yesterday’s matches to practice more before playing their next games.

He said young boys showed their talents yesterday and they did not just come to play.

Br. Odior thanked the local artists for having offered their time to come and perform free of charge at the opening ceremony.

Today Seven Brothers FC face the Wild Dogs and Barcelona FC played Tonj Tigers.

The final will be played on January 31 at Tonj Freedom Square, as the parish celebrates the feast of Saint John Bosco.

The tournament was organized by the Catholic parish of Tonj in preparation for welcoming the relics of St John Bosco which will arrive in town next Tuesday.
