South Sudan beauty queen is urging parents in Eastern Equatoria to send their girls to school instead of giving them out for marriage at an early age.

“Miss Malaika” Kadong Hellene, who comes from Budi County, told Radio Emmanuel she is on a visit to Eastern Equatoria to meet state government officials and the people to promote girl child education and local cultures.

Ms Kadong lamented that there are few educated women in of Eastern Equatoria state and she encouraged parents to send more girls to school.

Miss Malaika, who is on the first visit to her home state since winning the crown last year, urged parents to allow children to exploit their talents in various areas.

She added that God gave talents to every person and parents should not neglect their children.

Ms Kadong expressed gratitude for winning the national beauty contest.

She revealed that she plans of open cultural centres in Eastern Equatoria as well as in other parts of South Sudan.
