JUBA RESIDENTS EXPRESS VIEWS OVER CPA CELEBRATIONS

Juba resents have expressed varying views on the first CPA celebrations after independence.

Bakhita Radio asked Aken Santo Deng what he made of this year’s celebrations.

He said he was happy for the celebration, but cautioned the people of the new nation to avoid violence citing what happened in Jonglei state.

He added that South Sudanese have suffered for long and the time has come for them to have peace.

He said he was happy and proud and paid homage to the martyrs of independence.

Betuel Lopsa said he was happy for the celebration and called the people of South Sudan to unite and build the new nation.

He urged southerners to work hard in order to build the new nation just as other countries of the world did.

Paul Rwot expressed happiness towards the celebrations of the CPA in a new country.

He called on the people of South Sudan to stop corruption in order to open the door to development.

He said he felt ashamed with the clashes that involved the Lou-Nuer and the Murle communities in Jonglei state.

He called the responsible authorities to establish peace in Jonglei.

Today the CPA celebrations in Juba were organized by a civil society organization called Concerned Citizen X South Sudan.
