Residents of South Sudan were urged to wear white cloths on Monday during the celebrations of CPA Day to show that they stand for peace.
The proposal comes from Concerned Citizen X South Sudan who are concerned with communal violence in the country.Ayom Wol, the spokesperson of the group, told CRN News that people should wear white during the CPA, Comprehensive Peace Agreement, celebrations to call for the end of violence in South Sudan.
She urged people in Juba and other cities in the country to wear white on Monday to show the majority of people in the country want peace.
Ms Wol urged government officials, the army and other organized forces to join in the campaign.
She suggested that people in uniform could wear a bit of white cloth like an arm’s band and should not be punished for that by their superiors.
South Sudan celebrates the seventh anniversary of the CPA on Monday six months after its independence from Khartoum.
In Juba, the ceremonies will take place at Independence Square in front of Dr John Garang’s Tomb.
