One man was killed during the New Year celebrations in Yambio, Western Equatoria.
A crowd of young men gathered at Masiah Market, in Yambio to give to welcome the New Year with traditional dances, Radio Anisa reported.At about 1 AM, a dancer from Nagero County called Peter stumbled on the foot of another dancer of Yambio named John.
John was annoyed with Peter’s trample, ran home, got a knife, stabbed him to death and ran to the bush.
Peter’s body was taken from Yambio to Nagero for burial.
The Police are still looking for the killer’s whereabouts.
In an unrelated incident, a renowned trader in Tambura took his life after losing a big amount of money while playing cards.
Kumbo Aniue drank battery acid and poisoned himself to death after he lost his money to two young card players.
Playing cards or dice for money is illegal in Western Equatoria.
