Victims wounded in the on-going Lou-Nuer-Murle clashes in Pibor, Jonglei State, arrived yesterday evening at Juba Teaching Hospital for treatment following a visit by a government team to assess the security situation in the area.
National health deputy minister Yatta Loli Lugar told CRN News that 82 patients are being treated at the hospital mostly from gunshot injuries in the limbs.He said one baby died yesterday and another is in a critical condition from a bullet wound in the stomach.
Dr. Yatta said the evacuation of these victims was ordered by vice President Machar one day after he arrived in Pibor on Wednesday heading an assessment team .
He added that the hospital is facing problems to feed all the patients who do not have relatives in Juba but the ministry is finding money to buy food for them.
Dr. Yatta said patients have been discharged from Juba Teaching Hospital to find space for the victims from Pibor that are filling a number of wards at the health facility.
