Officials urged Tonj residents to peacefully celebrate Christmas and try to forgive one another.
Augustine Agei Dut, an MP from the Warrap State Legislative Assembly asked people to avoid engaging in problems adding that people will be able to stay in peace if unnecessary things like alcohol and aggressions are avoided, Radio Don Bosco reported.
Akech Tong Aleu, the Commissioner of Tonj South County, urged the community to hand over the guns which are still in the hands of civilians.
He warned that there will be problems if any person if caught having a gun adding that this was decreed by the president of the republic, Salva Kiir Mayardit, and civilians have to obey it.
Mr. Tong urged citizens to embrace development of the county and co-operate in creating new projects such as farms.
He announced that Mayom Secondary School will be renovated next year.
