Some returnees from Khartoum and abroad said the first Christmas after South Sudan’s independence is difficult due to lack of accommodation for some families in Juba.

Kennedy Enocha and his family returned to Juba from Khartoum three weeks after independence.

He says Christmas celebration remains the same although it is difficult to prepare it in a more welcoming manner for some returnees due to difficulties like accommodation.

Mr Enocha explained that his wife and children are living in a different place because he failed to find a house. He said this is the first time to celebrate Christmas while the family is separated.

Monica Butrus, Lay Reader the in Episcopal Church of Sudan, came with her family from Syria earlier in July before the independence.

Although she finds South Sudan interesting, she says the housing system is very poor.
Ms Butrus has hope that if stability prevails, development shall take place.
