ATHOR’S DEATH UNPLANNED, SAYS MINISTER

The minister of information said today the government of South Sudan did not have any plan to kill rebel leader George Athor.

Barnaba Marial Benjamin told the press today that Mr. Athor was killed on his way to Morobo when he clashed with the SPLA in the area.

He explained that South Sudan’s intelligence followed Mr. Athor from Khartoum to Rwanda until he entered Morobo County to recruit rebels.

He added that the Government of South Sudan is not known for assassinating opposition leaders.

In a statement issued today, rebel leader Bapiny Monytuil, Deputy Head of South Sudan Liberation Army, claimed that Ugandan officers killed Mr. Athor and handed over his body to South Sudan government.
