A students’ body at the University of Juba has urged the Vice Chancellor to resolve the issues raised in a petition presented last week.
On Friday, JUSU, the Juba University Students’ Union, sent a petition to Vice Chancellor Agrey Abate urging him to fire the principal and the dean of the students saying the officials are unable to deliver services to lecturers and students.Khor Puoch Chop, JUSU General Secretary, told CRN News the Union met with the Vice Chancellor and other top administration heads at the university to analyze the petition.
He said Vice Chancellor Abate asked for some time to hear from the two accused officials before taking any decision about them.
Mr Puoch added that the petition presented by the students’ general assembly was clear and the principal and the dean of the students have to go.
He explained that if the vice chancellor does not take a positive step to meet the students’ demands and resolve the issues affecting them, they will present another petition.
Mr Puoch stressed that if the vice chancellor retains any of the two officials, it will represent a non cooperative gesture of contempt towards the students’ demands.
