The representative of Germany to South Sudan has called on journalists to carry out their duties responsibly.
Ambassador Peter Felten addressed yesterday a group of journalists who concluded a one-week workshop for trainers of trainees, Bakhita Radio reported.He said in order for the media to exercise its role it must be free.
But he warned that exercising one’s freedom does not mean to do whatever one wants to do, that freedom must be exercised responsibly.
Mr. Felten explained that there must be a legal framework for the media to regulate their actions and to protect their freedom.
He said the media should stop publishing hate speeches and defamation stories.
The workshop was organized by Deutsche Welle, the German international radio.
