Lakes State Minister for Information encouraged Journalists to be responsible and to contribute positively to nation building.
Marik Nanga Marik told Good News Radio during the closure of a BBC training that the media has the responsibility to deliver the right information that can benefit the people of Lakes State and South Sudan as a whole.The minister for information admitted that there has been some lack of understanding between the media and the government, a situation which prompted BBC World Service Trust to convene a two-day workshop to enhance good working relationship between the two sectors.
Mr. Marik expressed optimism that those who underwent the training will be able to relate well and complement each other to serve the people better.
The two-day training by BBC focused on the freedom of opinion and expression, the right of freedom to hold opinion without interference, and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through the media.
