The Government of South Sudan today launched a 15-day activism campaign against sexual and gender based violence under the theme “Let’s join hands together to fight violence against women.”
The launch took place at Nyakuron Cultural Centre in Juba during the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women celebration.
Regina Ossa Lullo, who is a director in the Ministry of Gender, said the campaign will help pass information and awareness to the community on the effects of domestic violence.
She urged institutions and individuals to join hands to fight violence against women.
Gender Undersecretary Esther Ikere said there cannot be peace in the world if there is no peace at home.
The 15-day activism campaign includes meetings with local leaders to enlighten them on the effects of domestic violence, and radio and TV programmes.
