The Hakima Health Training Institute in Kumu, Nuba Mountains, is in need of tutors and funds to run its operations.
Kandi K. is the office coordinator of a NGO that runs the Institute. He said there is a problem with the cash flow between the head office in Khartoum and their office in Kauda, and the issue affects much of the activities at Hakima Institute and other activities in the area.Mr K. added that as part of Consortium they managed to put their resources together that helped them up to this time.
He added that his NGO is trying find a way to channel funds from donors to provide scholastic materials and salaries for the teachers, and the running costs of programme activities.
Mr K. said the nurses’ course in Hakima runs for three years.
He added that there is money from donors to run the course but the Institute needs to find a way to channel it to Akima.
He said that the institute is being run by national and local tutors, but it needs also the expertise of expatriate staff who left Hakima after the war broke out in South Kordofan.
Hakima College has 50 students: 35 train as nurses and 15 as laboratory technicians.
