Kauda Model Primary School, in Nuba Mountains, has reopened despite of bombings by Sudanese Antonov aircraft after a five-month break due to the war in Southern Kordofan State.
Head teacher Daniel I. said air force raids are scaring Kauda’s residents.He added that the school dag shelters for pupils to take cover when they hear Antinovs approaching.
He explained that local streams also offer protection against the bombs.
Mr. I. said the school reopened thanks to the willingness and support from the community who wants the children to learn.
Kauda schools were closed down in June when the war broke out in Southern Kordofan state.
The city has been the site of many attacks by the Sudanese air force using Antonov aircraft and Mig fighters.
