Eastern Equatoria deputy speaker is urging citizens to stop internal conflicts and focus on national issues affecting the new nation in order to build peaceful co-existence among the different communities.

Paul Napwon told Radio Emmanuel that the biggest problems that South Sudan faces are internal rebellions and external invasion in the northern border.

The deputy speaker called on the people of Eastern Equatoria state to maintain their peace loving spirit.

Mr. Napwon urged citizens not to allow themselves to be used as tools for conflict and to stop being greedy.

He called on the government to take tough measures against suspected criminals and stop others escaping from prisons due to negligence or connivance.

Mr. Napwon was talking to the press after holding a series of community peace conferences in Greater Kapoeta.

The deputy speaker said the communities demanded that the authorities give them confidence by implementing the resolutions agreed upon in the peace conferences to reduce conflicts, especially cattle raiding, in Eastern Equatoria.
