An air attack by planes from the Sudan Armed Forces killed seven people at Guffa village of Maban County, in the northeast of Upper Nile State, on Tuesday.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit said today that the air strike came 48 hours after President Omar al Bashir threatened twice to invade South Sudan for alleged support to SPLA-North rebels in Southern Kordofan and Blue Nile states.

Seven civilians lost their lives in the air attack.

President Kiir added that Mr. Al-Bashir and his ruling party have regretted giving South Sudan a chance to vote for independence.

Mr. Al-Bashir said in Kurmuk and Damazine that if South Sudan continues to support SPLA rebels, SAF will invade it and this time there will be no peace negotiations.

The US administration condemned the air attack as unacceptable.
