The women are decisive for peace and nation building and the Church in Sudan and South Sudan needs to recognize the important role they play.
Elizabeth Nyanawut Mayenkaol, family and women affairs coordinator in the Bishops’ Conference, took part in the Bishops’ plenary assembly. She told Radio Voice of Hope that her presence confirmed that the religious leaders want to include everybody in evangelization and in nation building.She added that women are part of the journey of the Church.
Ms. Nyanawut said women should continue to participate in the running of both countries from family to government levels.
She urged women to use the gifts God gave to them to contribute towards peace building, saying that a good family is the foundation for a peaceful society.
Ms. Nyanawut stressed that it was not possible to build peace without the participation of women as they know how to handle different and difficult situations.
