The Governor of Eastern Equatoria has advised Buno and others communities in Kapoeta to live peacefully among themselves and with their neighbours.
Louis Lobong Lojore said harmonious co-existence with other tribes like the Buya, Didinga, Jie, Murue and Turukana, in Kenya, brings peace and development to the area, Emmanuel Radio reported. The governor was speaking to the Buno section of Nangatuny community on Wednesday at an event initiated by Ngikurukwa youth groups of Toposa community in Kapoeta East County.
Nangatuny community members honoured the state governor for his leadership and contributions to the Toposa community, from the time of civil war up to date.
The governor advised the communities that are still engaged in cattle raiding to desist from the practice and take up on peace building and agriculture instead.
Mr. Lobong warned the law will deal with people who persist with cattle raids.
He said the government will take strong stand to disarm the population in case they do not stop cattle rustling activities.
Thousands turned up for the occasion that was colourfully marked by presentations of varied cultural dances by the Nangatuny community.
