Lawmakers in Eastern Equatoria State Assembly have passed a Bill banning public display of unauthorized firearms in the state.

Speaker Ambrose Emmanuel Ocholimoi presided over the passing of the Bill yesterday.

Deputy governor Nartisio Manir Loluke, who is also the minister of local government and law enforcement, stressed that even bodyguards of constitutional post holders are under restrictions.

He emphasized that the bodyguards are also restricted from entering hotels with guns because it scares investors.

Mr. Manir urged hotel owners to provide a place where bodyguards can keep their guns.

He mentioned that bodyguards of the governor are excepted from this restriction.

The motion against unauthorized carrying of fire-arms in public places was moved by Joseph Longole, the deputy chairperson for Parliamentary committee of security, in Eastern Equatoria state Assembly.
