The Religious Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, popularly known as Loreto Sisters, celebrated its foundress, Mary Ward, together with the students at Loreto Secondary School in Rumbek.
Sr. Anne Mary Murphy told students, teachers, and sisters that she recognized Mary Ward’s early childhood struggles to seek God’s will in her life while she maintained an intimate relationship with the Lord through prayer.Sr. Murphy said that the Loreto community in Rumbek was also celebrating 40 years of religious life of one of their members, Sr. Anne Farren.
Sr. Farren, on her part, encouraged the girls at Loreto School in Rumbek to listen to the voice of the Lord and to respond accordingly.
Mary Ward died in 1645, aged 60. Two years ago, Pope Benedict declared her Venerable, the first of the three steps on the path to being recognized a saint.
