The deputy minster of finance and economic planning was yesterday in Yei to investigate difficulties hindering the implementation of the cabinet resolution on tax harmonization in order to reduce the cost of living in South Sudan.

Marial Awou Yel said there should be no tax collection points along the Kaia-Yei-Juba and Nimule-Juba roads that hinder the movement of goods and services, Easter Radio reported.

Mr. Awou added that the tax collection system should be the same all over South Sudan.

The deputy minister was accompanied by other dignitaries from the Government of South Sudan to clear illegal road blocks that collect taxes from traders.
