The new appointed Chief Justice has underlined a number of priorities that will be tackled soon in an effort to reform the judicial system of South Sudan.
Talking to SCR News, Chief Justice Chan Reec Madut said he will ensure that the current case load is deal with together with recruitment and training of judges and supporting staff and the development of infrastructure.Justice Reec said he held two meetings with the national minister for Justice to ensure a speedy trial to all pending cases.
He noted that some pending cases have not been investigated and the judges are not enough but the judiciary should clear South Sudan’s prisons soon.
Justice Reec called on the public to be patient while the reforms are ensured.
He promised changes in the Judiciary system within six months.
