The traders of Yei River held a one-day conference to discuss issues affecting their business operations in the county.
Tito Ayambu Jokondo, who chairs the Chamber of Commerce Agriculture and Industry, told the gathering that the aim of the conference was to find the reasons for the rise in prices and decline of local businesses, Easter Radio reported.The traders asked for the removal of checkpoints along the Kaya-Yei-Juba road.
They proposed a reduction in the high exchange rate of the US dollars both at banks and markets.
The traders said also that wholesalers should not be involved in the retail business to promote Yei’s local traders.
About 300 people gathered for the conference.
It was also attended by government officials and some departments of the organized forces in the county.
