SOLDIER SHOT DEAD IN TONJ SOUTH

A soldier died during a row among drunken SPLA elements in Thiet, Tonj South County of Warrap State.

Tonj South County chief inspector of police Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Mayiei told Don Bosco FM that drunken soldiers shot one colleague dead after a fight.

He said the soldiers came from Tonj East and were heading to Kirik, in Tonj North, in preparation for a disarmament exercise.

The chief of police added that the soldiers looted 42 bicycles and one motorbike from civilians at the market place in Thiet and proceeded to Tonj North.

Mr. Mayiei said civilians are following the soldiers trying to recover some of their property.

He added that the soldiers are from Division Three and that they entered the county’s Mr. Mayiei urged the community to handle their fire arms freely to the local authorities in the county to avoid the deployment of SPLA soldiers.

He added that the men in uniform do not behave well and bring chaos to the area.
