The President of the Republic met with his USA counterpart yesterday in New York on the sidelines of the UN general assembly.
Salva Kiir Mayardit and Barak Obama met in a hotel for one hour to discuss bilateral issues, including the humanitarian situation in Blue Nile and South Kordofan.
President Obama congratulated President Kiir and the people of South Sudan for the independence.
He said the United States will support development programs in South Sudan.
President Kiir is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly tomorrow.
