The Postal Services of South Sudan have opened three new post offices this year and plan to expand to all states.

Director of Postal Services Francis Apaya Elia told SCR News that post offices are already operating in Torit, Kaya and Yambio.

Rev. Apaya said the war paralysed the postal services but they should be reactivated at state, county, payam and boma levels.

He added that the postal services are already preparing staff to expand to the states to serve the people of South Sudan.

He said the service faces many challenges including the lack of means of transport and a regional air service.

Rev. Apaya said the Postal Services will set up a Post Office Saving Bank.

Juba Post Office is operating from its renovated premises since two weeks ago.

The renovation works took over one year to conclude.
