HEALTH WORKERS LEARN TO PROVIDE HIV AIDS CARE IN EASTERN EQUATORIA

Health officers are learning how to handle HIV and AIDS services in Eastern Equatoria state.

International HIV AIDS Alliance programme officer Oniko Jospeh said his organization is establishing HIV AIDS services in a number of health facilities in Eastern Equatoria, including Ikotos, Hai Lotuho, Katiko and Kapoeta Civil Hospital, Emmanuel Radio reported.

He said the NGO is training some health workers on Prevention of Mother to Child HIV transmission.

Mr. Oniko remarked that the training of health staff on HIV AIDS is aimed at providing effective services to clients.

He added that the participants, especially midwives and nurses, come from different health facilities in the state.

About 20 health officers are on training at a workshop that kicked off yesterday in Torit.
