South Sudan’s Central Bank chief said that rains and insecurity interrupted the money conversion process around the Abyei area.
Governor Kornelio Koriom told Bakhita Radio that the authorities are going to transport the residents from inaccessible areas around Abyei to safe places where money conversion is available.Mr. Koriom said the Central Bank intends to collect 2.1 billion Sudanese pounds in circulation in South Sudan.
He added that so far 1.4 billion were collected and exchanged for South Sudanese Pounds.
The exchange process concludes on Wednesday next week.
