Sudan People’s Liberation Movement for Democratic Change (SPLM-DC) denied allegations that eight of its state leaders have resigned together with two other party members.

Last Friday, SPLM-DC national council member Sebit Gideon told Journalists in Juba that he and another colleague had resigned and the chairpersons of eight states in South Sudan would follow suit.

Mr. Gideon accused the party leader Lam Akol of tribalism and unclear objectives for the party.

SPLM DC secretary for political affairs Yeka Peter told the press that only two members resigned from his party due to an internal power struggle.

Mr. Yeka denied the allegations that chairpersons of all states excluding Unity and Upper Nile have resigned.

He said only Alor Kuol and Sebit Gideon resigned after a power struggle within the movement.

He accused them of being power-hungry and looking for money to serve themselves.

Mr. Kuol and Mr. Gideon said they would join the SPLM.
