The Sudan Council of Churches has announced that it is to remain a united body with its northern part after South Sudan secedes tomorrow.

The SCC, formed in 1965, comprises of 20 member churches and 13 are in the north and seven in the south.

SCC Chairman Michael Taban Toro told Bakhita radio that the council will remain one in two countries.

He explained that the Council will divide only if the legal frame work of the two states does not favour its unity.

Rev. Taban acknowledged the difficulties of governing one Council in two independent countries.

SCC was divided into two during the struggle but reunited after the CPA was signed.
