Widows and relatives of the 1992 Juba Massacre’s victims together with friends organized yesterday a prayer of remembrance.

Fidensia Charles Ladu, who chairs Central Equatoria Widows Association, lost her husband during the massacre.

She said the prayer is done every year to remember and honour the victims.

Mama Fidensia said July 7 is historic to those who were in Juba in 1992 because many people, especially the bright and the young, were picked from their homes and many were killed and others are still missing since that day.

She added that they made memory of the victims because they died for the independence of South Sudan.

Paolina Jua lost her brother in the massacre.

She said she was traumatized by her brother’s death during all these years.

Mama Paolina added that now she is felling relieved and happier with the raising of the flag adding that she believed all the blood was poured for freedom and peace.
