Eastern Equatoria state legislative assembly yesterday passed a number of resolutions approving new logos for the eight counties with some amendments.

Speaker Ambrose Emmanuel Ocholimoi presided over the session, Emmanuel Radio reported.

Torit is represented by a lion while the logo for Ikotos County is a coconut tree near a river and two mountains at the background.

Tea leaves stand for Magwi County, an Ostrich for Lafon-Lopa County and a ram with horns and slightly bended tail represents Kapoeta South County.

Kapoeta East chose a horned bull, with big humps and large tail while an elephant represents Kapoeta North and a maize cob with seism plant stands for Budi County.

The MPs suggested changes to some logos before approving them.

The resolution for change of county logos was tabled on Monday by the state minister for parliamentary Affairs, Clement Chichim Laku.

Last week, the House approved a new state flag and logo for Eastern Equatoria.

The new flag and logo for the state and for the counties follow the need felt by the respective governments to welcome the new nation with new state symbols.
