The fighting which started in Abujabheyia County of Nuba Mountains earlier this month has led to the displacement of hundreds of people.
Muruan Yousif Maliga Murud who was in Abujabheyia when the fighting broke out on June 9 told Voice of Peace FM that northern militias threatened many Nuba people living in the area.He said northern troops attacked Abujabheyia to flash out any SPLM supporters.
Mr. Maliga added that the army is denying Abujabheyia residents the freedom to get away from the combat zone and uses them as human shields at military barracks.
Abujabheyia civilians are said to be taking refuge in the forest living under the trees and coming home only to get some food.
He added that men and children are especially vulnerable.
