OFFICIAL ENCOURAGES MARRIED WOMEN TO RETURN TO SCHOOL

An official has pleaded with the Government of South Sudan and the local communities in partnership with civil society organizations to give a chance to women who married before completing their basic education to return to school.

Susan Nyanbuot Buku serves in Lakes State Ministry of Education as Inspector of Girls’ Education under the directorate of Gender, Equity and Social Change.

She told Good News Radio that South Sudan requires educated women.

Ms. Nyanbuot explaining that the new nation has to give a chance to married women who did not complete their basic education to return to school.

Ms. Nyanbuot urged head teachers to invite parents to schools in order to explain to them the importance of girls’ education.

She has also mobilized community members to listen to the radio program “Give Girls a Chance” broadcasted every Friday evening by Good News Radio, followed by a two-hour live program every Saturday on education.

Ms. Nyanbuot further appealed to Good News Radio to partner with Nongovernmental Organizations to support mothers who would like to continue their education by offering them scholarships.

She encouraged South Sudanese women to take up education opportunities regardless of age.
