Emmanuel Radio has celebrated two years on air in Torit and surroundings.

Director Fr. Santino Lounoi said Emmanuel FM is a success story thanks to its listeners, the staff’s hard work and the administrative support offered by the Catholic Diocese of Torit.

He also praised Sudan Catholic Radio Network for strengthening Emmanuel Radio through shared programs and news, responsible for the uniqueness of its broadcast in Eastern Equatoria.

Fr. Lounoi recounted the richness of the programs and news including the recently introduced bulletin in simple Arabic.

Varieties of trainings and capacity building offered by the BBC World Trust to the radio staff at different levels were other achievements within the two years of the Radio station.

Fr. Lounoi acknowledged that the radio experiences challenges including the current fuel crisis and the setback of a broken mast last year that reduced signal coverage.

He said a new mast was on the way and the radio is expected to regain its former glory by August.

Fr. Lounoi urged NGOs and other development partners to make use of the radio as the best medium to create awareness among the people.
