The parish priest of Yei’s Christ the King parish has urged the faithful to take part in a procession to prepare for the independence celebration.
Fr. Tom Poru urged the people to participate actively in the procession which will take place next Sunday.
He said the procession that will take place also in other catholic dioceses will prepare the faithful for the independence.
Fr. Poru added that the Southern Sudanese are like the Israelites walking towards the Promised Land and God is with them day and night.
The parish priest added that on Sunday there will be no mass in the chapels for the faithful to take part in the pilgrimage.
Fr. Poru urged all men and women to pray for the new nation its leaders and for the people in the special areas of Abyei, South Kordofan and Blue Nile states.
