South Sudanese children are urging the government and the humanitarian organizations to put them right in the middle of their development plans.

Gudele Model Primary School Pupil Aneka Tabu told the attendants of the African Child Celebration on Thursday that time had come for the government, parents and NGOs to prioritize children in their planning.

She said African Child Day was special to remind parents to recommit themselves to caring for and educating their children.

Ms. Tabu added without children there were no families and humanity would finish.

Saad Rice, maimed by a land mine and suffering from cancer, saluted all the children in South Sudan.

He warned them not to wander on unsafe places or play with unknown objects in order not to experience pain like he did.

Mr. Rice urged the ministry of health to make South Sudan free from landmines so that children can be safe and raise the future of this new country.

Mr. Rice explained that a mine maimed him in 2003 and caused cancer on his eye.

He added that he gets help from institutions and organizations for his treatment because his father does not look after him.
