The governments of Juba and Khartoum are still working on modalities to exchange the Sudanese Pound with the new South Sudan Pound after the declaration of Independence.
Elijah Maluk Alang is the president of Bank of South Sudan. He told SCR News that the government of Juba and the Central Bank of Sudan are figuring out arrangements on how to determine the value of the new currency and phase out the Sudanese Pound.He said the change of currency will be gradual.
Mr. Maluk added that the new money is already being printed.
He disclosed that the South Sudanese Pound will start circulating sometimes in July.
Mr. Maluk said he expected the South Sudanese Pound will have the same value of the Sudanese Pound.
