MPs at the Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly agreed to share the Constituency Development Fund equally by all the 170 parliamentarians.

The decision came after a long debate on which members qualified for the 120 million Sudanese Pounds.

Last year women and part representatives were excluded from the CDF.

James Reat Gony, who chairs SSLA’s Constituency Fund Committee, told SCR News that the Tuesday seating resolved that every MP was entitled to a part form the CDF for their constituency projects.

Mr. Gony explained that 120 million pounds was available plus 16 million that should be added by the ministry of finance.

He added that five percent of the total will remain as an emergency reserve for the whole of South Sudan.

The CDF law grants 10 percent for administrative costs and 85 percent for project costs.
