Media has a greater role to play in building the new Republic of South Sudan.
GoSS Information Minister Barnaba Marial Benjamin said today in Juba that the new Republic of South Sudan will work hard to ensure a free and secure environment for the media to grow in the region.
He explained that the media was important in the nation building process because it informs, educates the citizenry and writes the history of South Sudan from July 9.
Dr. Marial said the government will ensure that no journalist is detained or harassed without logical reason.
He urged security personnel and journalists to cooperate in order to provide a peaceful environment for each side to carry its duties.
The minister made the remarks during an opening of Roundtable Meeting that brought together Media and South Sudan Security Service.
