Senior members from the SPLA and concerned stakeholders met today to discuss a new policy that will guide the implementation of Disarmament Demobilisation and Reintegration effectively.
Talking to SCR News, the undersecretary in the ministry of SPLA Affairs Bior Ajang said the previous DDR policy faced challenges due to non-SPLA forces that had to be disarmed and reintegrated.He added that the latter affected the effective work of the DDR commission.
Addressing the participants, GoSS spokesperson and minister of information Barnaba Marial Benjamin who presided over the event called upon the DDR stakeholders to train ex-combatants on how to utilise land in the region for agriculture.
Mr. Marial said GoSS’ policy regarding ex-combatants is to make sure that they are all transformed into good citizens who will contribute to the development and peace in the region.
