Eastern Equatoria government has given one week to internally displaced people in Nimule area to move their animals out of Magwi County.

Wildlife, Tourism and Hotels State minister George Ekeno Echom issued the ultimatum after the local community complained that IDPs from Jonglei brought about 4,000 animals to Nimule area, Emmanuel Radio reported.

He told the press that the IDPs had one week to move the animals out of Nimule and from Magwi County to their home areas.

Mr. Ekeno said a state government fact finding team found more than 2,000 animals in Nimule.

He added that other cattle were in camps far away from the town.

The IPDs told the mission that the animals could be over 3,000 in total.

Mr. Ekeno said the animals cannot be kept in Magwi County, an area where the people farm the land.

He added that animals would destroy the crops.

The IDPs told the committee that they brought some of the controversial animals from Jonglei while others were bought in Uganda.
