Priests are shepherds of God’s people and teachers in the community, the archbishop of Juba said.

Archbishop Paolino Lukudu Loro ordained yesterday to the priesthood deacon Festo Kiri at St. Peter the Apostle’s Church, in Rokon.

The archbishop explained to the large congregation that filled the church to capacity that the newly ordained priest was empowered to protect the believers, teach them the Word of God and perform the sacraments.

Fr. Festo Kiri told SCR News at the end of the ordination that he felt very happy.

He said to be a priest means to sacrifice oneself freely in order to serve and love the people of God.

Fr. Kiri urged young boys to offer themselves to God and become priests if they feel the call.

He said the harvest is rich and the workers are not enough.
