The council of ministers of the government of South Sudan has agreed to send a team headed by the vice president to Khartoum to resolve the outstanding issues on Abyei.
Addressing the press today, GoSS spokesperson and minister of information Barnaba Marial Benjamin said continuation of negotiations between the two governments will proceed led by Dr. Riak Machar and a group of ministers.He added that the team will meet vice president Osman Taha and other top dignitaries in the Government of National Unity.
Dr. Marial added that Abyei is a Sudanese issue that needs both parties to re-start the cycle of negotiations on post referendum issues as well.
He reiterated President Kiir’s massage of a no return to war with the north over Abyei.
