Venders, retailers and wholesellers lament the increase of food prices in Juba due to the upsurge on fuel prices and poor pricing policies.

Hassan Katsabe, a vender at Konyokonyo Market, told SCR News this morning that prices of all food items are up these days.

He said a bag of rice now costs 185 pounds compared to 140 pounds two weeks ago.

Mr. Katsabe added that a sack of sugar has gone way up from 150 to 190 pounds.

He said some costumers find it hard to pay five pounds for a kilo of beans.

Mr. Katsabe also said the wholesellers increased the prices due the high taxes and fuel.

Omer Joda, a wholeseller, said every day there is an increase in prices.

He added that zam flour now sells at the rate of 120 pounds, but it was 80 pounds.

Mr. Joda said there should be regulation on prices so that nobody put his or her prices as they like.
